Message from the Department Head

 

Thank you for visiting the web site of the Department of Telecommunications Engineering at the Faculty of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Ho Chi Minh city University of Technology.

 

We offer undergraduate and graduate education and conducts research activities in the fields of Telecommunications Engineering. The Department of Telecommunications Engineering was established in 1986. Over two decades, our graduates have contributed to the technological and economical development of Ho Chi Minh city and Vietnam.

 

The field of Telecommunications Engineering encompasses many exciting technologies such as wireless and mobile communications, microwave engineering, networking,  broadcasting, which have been among the fastest growing and most challenging technologies. The Department has a wide range of education and research activities, grouped under four areas, namely (i) Communication System Engineering, (ii) Antenna and Microwave Engineering, (iii) Communication Networks, and (iv) Digital Signal Processing and Applications.

 

The Department runs four undergraduate programs, namely (i) Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (4,5-year curriculum), (ii) Talent Engineers program in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering (4,5-year curriculum), (ii) PFIEV program in Telecommunications Engineering (Programme de Formation d’Ingenieur D’Excellence au Vietnam, 5-year curriculum), and (iv) Advanced program in Communication Systems Engineering (4-year curriculum). In 2009, the undergraduate program in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering was successfully assessed by the ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) Network. In 2010, the PFIEV program in Telecommunications Engineering was also successfully assessed by the Commission des Titres d’ Ingenieur (CTI) for the period of 2010-2016. We also offer both master’s program and doctoral program in Electronics and Telecommunications Engineering. The Department currently has 36 academic and teaching staffs; about 250 undergraduate students per year, about 60 MSc students per year and 11 research postgraduate students pursuing PhD degree.

 

The mission of the Department is to produce the high quality of graduates to serve the society, and to conduct leading-edge research. To this end, we strive for excellence in teaching, research and professional services.
